The simple answer to the question, “How often should I meditate?” is an easy one. The answer is that you should meditate every day.
I hear some of you groaning.
You see, unfortunately, sometimes meditation is still perceived as “work.” And so we can make a bazillion excuses for not meditating. You know what they are.
However, just as we exercise our physical body, and we exercise our mind, we can derive great benefit all across the board from also exercising our “spiritual body,” through meditation.
That’s exactly how you should try to view your meditation practice. You’re simply exercising your spiritual body.
And guess what? You don’t have to “formally” meditate. You can turn a lot of what you already do into a meditation of sorts. For example, if you are taking a walk, turn it into a “walking meditation,” where you are focusing not just on your physical body, but your spiritual body as well. Combine the two.
Doing this ~ it’s a form of what is called “mindfulness meditation” ~ is the beginning of learning to “integrate,” as we often say here in our meditations. We’re talking about the integration of mind, body, and spirit. That’s what we want because being “all together” like this helps you cope with your busy day.
For those that think meditation is work or that meditation is time consuming, know that it is not either of those. Meditation is blissful connection to the Divine, to yourself, and to all. And it does not have to be time consuming. You can have an effective, relaxing, and beneficial meditation in 3 to 10 minutes or so, and sometimes less as you get more practiced in this kind of connection. You could also discover, to your surprise, that when you mediate daily, you actually seem to have more time in your day rather than less. Try this for awhile and you will see for yourself.
For anyone who doesn’t know where to even begin in terms of starting to meditate, this is why we have guided meditations. These are delightful “journeys” that will relax you, de-stress you, help you connect, and assist you in better navigating through your busy day.
The answer to the question, “How often should I meditate?” can be different for everyone. However, everyone should consider meditating for at least 5 to 10 minutes per day. Try it and you will see. You will see immediate and positive results.
